Knowledge Pit - A Data Challenge Platform
نویسندگان
چکیده
Knowledge Pit (https://knowledgepit.fedcsis.org) is a web platform created to facilitate organization of data mining competitions. Its main aim is to stimulate collaborative research for solving practical problems related to real-life applications of predictive analysis and decision support systems. What makes Knowledge Pit different from other data challenge platforms is the fact that it is a non-commercial project focusing on a collaboration with international conferences. It promotes the idea of open research and encourages young researchers to involve in projects related to data science. The platform can also be used as a elearning tool to support data mining courses and for defining interesting student projects. In this paper we discuss the architecture of Knowledge Pit and highlight its main functionalities. We also overview some of the already finished data challenges that were organized using our web platform.

Design of a Novel Auto-rotating Uav Platform for Underground Mine Cavity Surveying
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the potential for use of UAVs in underground mines and present a prototype design for a novel autorotating UAV platform for underground 3D data collection. The mining industry has recently shown increased interest in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to assist in everyday operations [20, 11, 4]. Above ground, small UAVs are in some cases a mo...
متن کاملCompression of Pending Interest Table with Adaptive Prefix Bloom Filter in Named Data Networking
In the recent years, Named Data Networking (NDN) become more popular which is the complementary design of the traditional IP architecture. NDN gives more importance to content rather than the data hosts. It enables the end user to give a data content request with no knowledge about the hosting entity. It manages user mobility, highly secure, flexible and scalable than the conventional Internet....
متن کاملEnhancing the Capacity of Policy-Makers to Develop Evidence-Informed Policy Brief on Infectious Diseases of Poverty in Nigeria
Background The lack of effective use of research evidence in policy-making is a major challenge in most low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). There is need to package research data into effective policy tools that will help policy-makers to make evidence-informed policy regarding infectious diseases of poverty (IDP). The objective of this study was to assess the usefulness of training works...
متن کاملAdopt or Adapt: Sanitation Technology Choices in Urbanizing Malawi
This paper presents the results of a mixed-methods study examining adaptation strategies that property owners in low-income, rapidly urbanizing areas in Malawi adopt to address the limitations of pit latrines, the most common method of disposing human excreta. A particular challenge is lack of space for constructing new latrines as population density increases: traditional practice has been to ...
متن کاملAviation Security Screeners Visual Abilities & Visual Knowledge Measurement
A central aspect of airport security is reliable detection of forbidden objects in passenger’s bags using X-ray screening equipment. Human recognition involves visual processing of the X-ray image and matching items with object representations stored in visual memory. Thus, without knowing which objects are forbidden and what they look like, prohibited items are difficult to recognize (aspect o...
